The Mulgrave Shire Historical Society relies on a small group of volunteers to keep the wheels rolling for both the Mulgrave Shire Historical Society and the running of the Mulgrave Settlers Museum. We’d love to have more people join us. You do not need special skills or knowledge. How much time you give and when is up to you.

What qualifications and experience is required?
The most important qualification is enthusiasm and a desire to preserve our heritage. Volunteers are people with a range of backgrounds and skills all of which can be utilised.
Will I be covered by insurance while volunteering?
Volunteers are covered by the Society’s insurance policies for injury or damage that results from work related activities. Volunteers are required to sign in and out each time they are on duty to be fully covered by the insurance policy.
What time commitment is required?
We are very flexible but we do ask that you try to make a commitment of four hours once a fortnight for a long term volunteer. We are also happy to accommodate short term volunteers, or work from home volunteers.
What sort of jobs need to be done for the:
Mulgrave Shire Historical Society?
- Administrative people that can help with our paperwork and documentation, this can be done at home such as - writing up monthly bulletins, typing up earlier recorded oral histories
- helping catalogue the photos, artifacts, publications and documents in our collection
- interviewing people of the former Mulgrave Shire area to collect their stories in the form of oral or digital histories
- answering enquiries about the Mulgrave Shire history
- assist with events and activities
- and much more

- staffing the Museum during opening hours 10am - 2pm any day Monday to Saturday
- people to interact with our visitors and answer any questions that may arise
- caring for the permanent exhibits
- working on temporary displays
